The PKP Intercity Technical Maintenance Depot was KARMAR’s first project in the railway construction sector. The facility was designed and delivered as a state-of-the-art maintenance center dedicated to servicing high-speed trains, representing an important milestone in the development of Poland’s railway infrastructure.
Located in Warsaw’s Olszynka Grochowska district, the depot occupies a 2.5-hectare site and offers a total area of 12,500 m². The facility is divided into workshop and warehouse areas as well as office and administrative spaces, providing comprehensive support for rolling stock maintenance operations.
The workshop hall is equipped with three maintenance tracks and two repair tracks capable of servicing seven-car trainsets. The facility also includes a spare parts warehouse and an automatic train wash, ensuring efficient maintenance and operational readiness of the fleet.

Modern & Efficient Solutions
The depot is the first maintenance center in Poland designed exclusively for high-speed trains and equipped with an enclosed rigid folding overhead traction system. The advanced technical solutions implemented within the facility enable maintenance, inspection and diagnostic operations to be carried out safely and efficiently.
As part of the project, KARMAR delivered approximately 2 kilometers of railway tracks together with the associated overhead traction infrastructure, creating a fully integrated maintenance environment for modern rail vehicles.
The client’s objective was to create a dedicated facility capable of carrying out:
- testing of components and electrical systems,
- train body watertightness testing,
- customer acceptance inspections,
- rectification of minor defects identified during testing and commissioning.
KARMAR’s scope of responsibilities included not only the construction of the facility itself but also the preparation of the complete design documentation and management of the administrative processes required to obtain the occupancy permit. The Design & Build delivery model ensured full coordination of the investment process and optimization of both design and construction solutions.
