Description

The Gdansk Science and Technology Park was created in 2006 from adapting the Gdansk Printing Plant. In upcoming years the Park was expanded thanks to European union founds dedicated for raising innovation and competitiveness of the Polish economy. Today Park has facilities with total area of over 40.000 sqm.  The total cost of this investment is estimated around 150 milion zloty.

In the Park there are about 80 companies specializing mainly in modern technology, mostly in biotechnology, IT and energetics. You can find here laboratories, production halls, and business incubator. For its locators Park provides administrative services, legal, accounting, consulting, training, and social facilities in the form of nursery and kindergarten. It is also a place of cultural events aimed at residents of Trójmiasto and surroundings.

The Gdansk Science and Technology Park was named after world famous virologist and immunologist of Polish origin, prof. Hilary Koprowski, creator of vaccine for polio virus, which causes Heine-Medine disease. He lived and worked in USA until his death in April 2013. During the Park naming ceremony in September 2008, prof. Koprowski was a guest of honor.
