Description

Bouygues Bâtiment International has completed its first project in the Middle East. In the West Bay business district in the Qatar capital, one of the largest development projects in the world was created. The Qatar Petroleum District, also known as the QP District, includes nine office buildings (the highest of which has 52 floors), a five-star hotel complex with more than 400 rooms, a shopping center, conference center, mosque and parking facilities and all outdoor facilities required by these complexes.

Construction began in 2009 and lasted seven years. In the peak period, 7 000 people worked on the construction site.

The main challenge was logistics. During the structural work phase, 1 000 qbm of concrete and between six and ten TIRs of steel were consumed daily. To facilitate transport and storage, a dedicated warehouse was built 30 minutes from the construction site. The 10-person team dealt with the logistics planning itself by optimizing orders and calculating the risk associated with them.
