The purpose of the project was to upgrade the three existing student houses together with the enhancement of their adjacent sports and leisure infrastructure (car parking lot and sport pitches) for more than a thousand students. The project was implemented as a PPP formula, under which the private partner’s tasks were to design, refurbish and maintain the Badurskiego Street complex for the next 25 years. The UJCM is responsible for the day-to-day management of the complex and for managing payments of the remuneration (as availability fee) to the private partner.
“A Public-Private Partnership has proven to be an ideal solution” Mr Marcin Jędrychowski, UJ Deputy Bursar for Medical College said. ‘Facing a shortage of expertise and funds necessary to develop such a comprehensive renovation, we have decided to draw on the experience and capital of our Partner, in exchange for the so-called availability fee, payable monthly. We hope the new higher standard of accommodation for affordable price will make our educational proposal even more attractive.”
The PPP agreement was signed in main building of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Warsaw. The document was signed, for the UJCM, by Prof. Piotr Laidler, UJ Vice-Rector for Medical College, and Mr. Marcin Jędrychowski, UJ Deputy Bursar for Medical College and, for Neoświat PPP Projects, Mr. Gilles Leonard, CEO. The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Barbara Kudrycka, the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
